BioShock creator says "never say never" to Rapture return

BioShock creator Ken Levine has said that although he feels the time has come to move on from the iconic underwater dystopian city of Rapture with the latest entry in the franchise, he hasn’t completely ruled out a return to the location in the future.

Speaking during an interview with CVG, Levine adopted a “never say never” stance as to whether or not we’d see Andrew Ryan’s ill-fated metropolis again, following news that BioShock Infinite will take place in the airborne city of Columbia.

“Leaving Rapture was very, very personally difficult for me,” said Levine.

“It was very difficult. It was my whole life. I don’t have kids; it’s like my child. I feel that connection to Andrew Ryan, Sander Cohen – a sick group of people to feel a connection to, but I do.

“I just felt that we had said all we needed to say about it… at the time. I mean, never say never. But right now that’s how we feel about it.”

When asked to spill the beans on whether he might be tempted to tell another Rapture-centric tale again, Levine replied, “Yeah. I mean, life’s a long time. But I’d have to have an idea that drove that. I’d have to spring from the idea.”

BioShock Infinite is due out in 2012 for PS3, PC and 360.
