Bizarre Creations not done with Blur

Developer Bizarre Creations has revealed its intention to churn out more titles in the Blur franchise despite tepid sales of 2010’s inaugural ‘Mario Kart for grown-ups’ racer.

The Project Gotham creator sees Blur as "the start of a big franchise for Bizarre" and as a result a sequel is very much on the cards. The original Blur achieved some impressive review scores but ultimately failed to stimulate much interest at retail.

However, Bizarre producer Nick Davies attributes the lacklustre sales as a result of the title being released in a particularly competitive time frame:

“It came out at the same time as ModNation Racers and Split/Second. It rates incredibly highly and it’s a very popular game, and I think it’s going to be a slow-burner. I think the multiplayer will stay for a long time and I think people will come back to that time and time again, long after some of the other games have gone back to the second-hand shelf,” said Davies.

Undeterred, Davies added: "…it’s always been the plan to make the number one racing franchise. That’s as much as I can say!"

Bizarre is currently working on the spy outing James Bond 007: Blood Stone for PS3, 360 and PC.
