The holiday shopping season is almost upon us, and that magical, wallet-lightening time traditionally kicks off with the biggest retail shopping day of the year: Black Friday. You may have the day-after satisfaction of a Thanksgiving feast keeping you complacent, but that’s no excuse to miss out on some of the best video game deals of the year.

WAL-MART
Wal-Mart takes an unorthodox approach this holiday season by kicking off Black Friday savings on Thanksgiving night at 8 PM local time. These deals will be valid until Friday, November 23, at 11 PM local time, or while supplies last.

Like Wal-Mart, Target opens its doors for Black Friday deals after Thanksgiving dinner – 9 PM local time, to be precise. The discounts on games seem much in line with Wal-Mart’s offerings, with slight variation and some games actually costing more than for what its rival is selling at. Target’s Black Friday ad is also much less descriptive than Wal-Mart’s, leaving much of its discounted selection a secret.

The electronics giant is sticking by the "rules" of Black Friday and won’t open its doors to amazing deals until 12 AM on Friday, November 23. That’s all well and good, because the deals we see in Best Buy’s ad look quite familiar. Still, a few appreciated extras show up.
