Black Rock Studio is no more

Black Rock Studio’s former director Nick Baynes has confirmed that the Split/Second developer has officially shut up shop today.

Writing on Twitter, Baynes commented, "@blackrockster officially closes its doors today," adding, "Thoughts go out to all facing their last day. A bright future awaits all though I’m sure!"

News emerged back in July that the former Disney-owned studio was forced to close its doors due the cancellation of a free-to-play DOTA-style project, which was going by the working title of Champions Alliance.

This wasn’t the only title to get the chop however, with a number of other projects suffering a similar fate, including a sequel to quad-bike romp Pure, as well as a follow-up to Split/Second.
