Bloodborne gameplay runs at 40 hours plus, says EDGE

According to EDGE magazine, Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive hack-’n-slash title, Bloodborne, will last gamers over 40 hours.

The publication’s latest issue has a lengthy write-up on the upcoming dungeon crawler, which says 40 hours wasn’t enough for their staff to complete the title.

While EDGE notes that hardcore players are likely to beat the game during this time, during its own playthrough the magazine didn’t even partake in any multiplayer or Chalice dungeon content.

The write-up goes on to describe Bloodborne as a “brutal riposte” for gamers who think they have “seen it all before.”

In terms of equipment, it’s worth noting that EDGE only found a dozen weapons (ranged, melee, and firearms) during its time with the game. Furthermore, enemies do not drop equipment, though they do cough up upgrade materials from time to time. Bloodgems are used to customize your weapons.

Finally, the magazine teased a brand new mechanic that it wasn’t able to talk about yet. What could this be? Looks like we’ll have to wait and play the game later this month to find out for ourselves.

Bloodborne is due out on March 24 in the U.S. and March 27 in the U.K.
