Bandai Namco has announced that free-to-play action-RPG Blue Protocol is ending service in Japan on January 18, 2025, and as a result will no longer be launching in the US and Europe via publisher Amazon Games.
Originally released in Japan for the PC in June 2023, Blue Protocol arrived on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S arrived on December 13. With news of its impending closure the game would have lasted for about 1.5 years, and is yet another casualty of a saturated market that has seen a number of F2P games close their doors.

We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocol, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world. We have worked hard to prepare for the release; however, we have come to the conclusion that it will not be possible to provide a service that satisfies all of you.
Blue Protocol features cel-shaded visuals and immerses players in an online action-RPG that is described as playing like an anime come to life. Boasting an “immersive and compelling story,” Blue Protocol gives players a huge amount of customisation options to choose from, five unique classes at launch, and much more.
