Borderlands 2 raises level cap, adds end-game content

Gearbox has continued its ongoing support of Borderlands 2 with its latest DLC offering, the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge.

The Upgrade Pack 2 is available now on the PlayStation Network for $4.99, having released this week. The add-on raises the level cap to 72 whilst also including new high-end loot and character skins, tougher enemies, and the Digistruct Peak area.

The Digistruct Peak is a training ground of sorts for the game’s Crimson Raiders. The Peak may be tackled by any number of players, though it’s designed as the ultimate challenge worthy of four people working in tandem. Ascending the Peak plays out similarly to the game’s Circle of Slaughter maps, though players will move from one area to the next and encounter different enemies along the way.

Hitting level 72 and completing the Peak once also unlocks new Overpower Levels (there are eight of these in total), which gives players access to even better gear that surpasses the new level cap. As you may have already guessed, this feature takes the difficulty of the Peak to new heights.

Gearbox has also confirmed, via the chart below, that the Upgrade Pack 2 will not be included in the game’s season pass. As it stands, the benefits of the season pass have likely reached a close with the Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep DLC, which released earlier this year.

Nonetheless, it’s good to see a developer support a game long after release, even if this latest add-on mostly caters to seasoned players.
