According to a source close to Eurogamer, Gearbox Software is indeed busy chiselling away on a follow-up to 2009’s critically acclaimed Borderlands.
The source claims that publisher 2K Games will lift the cloth on the sequel ‘soon,’ and that it’ll be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
This isn’t the first time murmurs on Borderlands 2 have reared their heads, however, with Internet super sleuths spotting a listing for the game on a developer’s CV back in April.
In addition, Gearbox overlord Randy Pitchford indicated just a few months ago that the company was looking to revisit the franchise at some point.
"I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it’s gotten from our customers and the fact that it’s sold over four million units now," he told Eurogamer.
"So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we’re going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future.”
