Brutal Legend 2 Will Be Made If Double Fine Can Raise $100 Million For Its Latest Kickstarter Campaign

Double Fine Production has pledged to make Brutal Legend 2 if it manages to raise $100 in its latest crowdfunding initiative, Amnesia Fortnight 2026, which is giving its fans the chance to influence what project it takes up next.

The idea is that you contribute to the Kickstarter and will the be able to help trim down the list of ideas currently bubbling away at Double Fine Productions to four prototypes, one of which will be eventually made. However, if the studio somehow manages to raise a staggering $100 million, it will simply put Brutal Legend 2 in production. Here’s the blurb:

For Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary, and Kickstarter Campaign, we’ll be presenting a whole pile of fresh ideas, but only FOUR of them will be chosen – BY YOU – for further development. ONE of those will be chosen as the winner – ALSO BY YOU – and we’ll spend some time polishing it up to become a real (small) game, published under our new label for weird little games, Double Fine Action Labs.

The kickstarter will wrap up on September 30, after which the winning prototype will be given the green light and turned in to a full game, albeit a “small” one, said Double Fine.

Brutal Legend, for those who don’t know, was released in 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and starred Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, a roadie transported to a fantasy realm inspired by the album covers of heavy metal bands. The game features an amazing soundtrack from the likes of Accept, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, FireHouse, Kiss, Megadeth, Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Ratt, Saxon, and many more from the world of hard rock and metal.
