Square Enix has announced that it has partnered with People Can Fly, the developer behind Bulletstorm and Gears of War Judgment, and is currently working on a major new title for consoles and PC.
The game will not be putting an appearance at E3 later this month, although it has been described as a ‘high-end’ effort, so expect all the bells and whistles of a major triple-A production. People Can Fly is currently expanding its workforce for the new game, opening positions for Gameplay Programmer, AI Programmer, and VFX Artist.
“We’re massively excited to be working with the talented team at PCF in Warsaw, a studio filled with people who really know their craft,” commented Square Enix London Studios boss, Lee Singleton. “We’re building a game we all want to play which will be the perfect addition to our portfolio.”
People Can Fly Studio Head, Sebastian Wojciechowski, added, “It’s an exciting time. We’ve got a great and experienced team in place, and it’s incredible to be working with Square Enix, a world-class publisher who shares our passion and excitement for the project.”
Bulletstorm was released for the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 back in early 2011 and received critical acclaimed for its innovative, over-the-top shooting mechanics that rewarded creative kills. However, the game failed to set tills alight, and plans for a sequel were quickly scrapped. The game’s cult status endured nonetheless, which prompted an updated version for PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year.
