Destiny has had a rocky road since release. With Bungie losing key staff and Activision cutting up the DLC into distributable pieces, The Taken King finally brought Destiny to a state that was full of content and replayability.
But for those that aren’t in the know, Destiny 2 has been delayed from its September 2016 window and, with the plans of more DLC for Destiny players due to the delays, this has also now been shelved.
Destiny has only had two minor updates since The Taken King, those being the Festival of the Lost and Sparrow Racing League. The latter in particular was a fan favourite, which was eventually removed. With the Valentine’s event incoming, this will give players something new to do. However, expect the content to also disappear after a short while, since the events in Destiny only last for short durations of time.
It has been a while since The Taken King arrived and the longer the game goes without any new permanent content, excluding XP boosters and emotes, the more frustrated players will become. Having Destiny 2 delayed won’t help things, but with the potential DLC for Destiny being abandoned too, what will this mean for players starting to grow weary of Activision’s promised ten-year lifespan of the series?
Only time will tell what happens next, but with the lack of communication from the publisher, we are all left in the dark.
