Sony Computer Entertainment and GameStop have slashed the price of PlayStation TV in the US and UK today by 50 percent, meaning you can get your hands on the handy little microconsole for just £39.97 ($40).
Connecting to your TV via a HDMI lead, PlayStation TV opens up a number of features for PlayStation gamers including:
– The ability to stream your PS4 to another TV
– Use the DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 to play PS Vita games on a large screen
– Play PsOne and PSP classics on the big screen
Having launched in the US and UK in November last year for the grand price of £84.99, it’s clear that Sony expected to get more from consumers for its microconsole, though such a dramatic price drop so soon suggests that it hasn’t exactly been flying off the shelves like hot cakes.
Nevertheless, it’s a decent device if you don’t want to cart your PS4 around to different TVs and there are plenty of games on Vita worth playing on a larger screen. With the impending launch of PlayStation Now in the UK, which is currently in beta, it should also make PlayStation TV more attractive, with users able to rent a wide selection of PlayStation games and stream them directly through PS TV.
