Watch the Call of Cthulhu trailer below.
Developed by Cyanide, Call of Cthulhu is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in Q4 2017, and is based on the 1981 role-playing game of the same name, as well as the short story by H.P. Lovecraft. Players control Edward Pierce, a private investigator who is attempting to uncover the death of an entire family on Darkwater Island near Boston, Massachusetts. In doing so, Pierce unravels the impending arrival of the Great Old One, Cthulhu.

Call of Cthulhu was originally in development at Frogwares, the same studio responsible for the Sherlock Holmes video games, although production shifted to Cyanide in early 2016. The game shifted focus to a semi-open world title that combines RPG and stealth elements, with a tinge of psychological horror thrown in for good measure. Call of Cthulhu is powered by the Unreal Engine 4 and will be based more closely off of the pen and paper RPG than Lovecraft’s novel.
The game has yet to attract a concrete release date, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
