According to the latest GfK Chart-Track data, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has secured more weeks at number one in the U.K. than any other title in the multi-million selling first-person shooter franchise.
As previously reported on PSU, Black Ops 3 notched up yet another week at the top spot on the U.K. All Format Chart, bringing its total number of (non-consecutive) no.1s in the country to a massive 11—more than any other Call of Duty title to date.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the previous record holder, although that achieved nine consecutive weeks at the top spot. Black Ops 3 also managed to fend off one of the biggest releases of the year so far in the shape of Capcom’s Street Fighter V.
However, and perhaps surprisingly, the U.K no.1 record holder still remains Who Wants to be a Millionaire? on the PlayStation, which managed a staggering 18 weeks at the summit of the charts.
This year’s instalment in the Call of Duty franchise will be developed by Infinity Ward, who created the series back in 2003 with the original World War II-based shooter. It went on to develop Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
