Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has topped the U.K. All Format Chart following its launch last Friday, with a massive 91 percent of sales coming from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the Treyarch military shooter.
The Activision-published juggernaut has become the 14th best-selling video game of all time in terms of revenue upon its release. However, direct comparisons with previous entries in the Call of Duty franchise have become a little muddy considering Black Ops 3 launched on a Friday, the first title in the series to do so since 2009. Traditionally, the series has always released worldwide on a Tuesday.
The split between formats was pretty close too, with PS4 and Xbox One nabbing 48 percent and 43 percent of all physical copies sold, respectively. Xbox 360 managed just five percent with PS3 coming off far worse with three percent, while PC physical copies represented just one percent.
Elsewhere, FIFA 16 managed second place despite launching in September, holding off Need for Speed from Ghost Games, which entered the charts at number three. Halo 5: Guardians drops to fourth place followed by Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at number five. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for PS4 drops out of the Top 10 altogether, landing at 12.
November is set to be an incredibly crowded month for video games, with the likes of Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 both due out this week, so expect things to be shaken up quite a bit.
