Microsoft has revealed that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has gotten off to a massive start, with the Xbox manufacturer labelling it as the “biggest Call of Duty release ever.”
That’s according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who revealed during the company’s first quarter earnings call overnight that the game has been a huge success so far. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is also notable as the first entry in the series to launch for Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Last week’s launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day. And unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60% year-over-year. This speaks to our strategy of meeting gamers where they are by enabling them to play more games across the screens they spend their time on.

In terms of UK chart performance, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 arrived at number one in physical sales, although due to the impact of Game Pass, sales of the Xbox versions were down over last year’s Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 launched for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on October 25, 2024.
