Call of Duty confirmed for 2014

Activision boss Bobby Kotick has announced that the publishing giant will release a new Call of Duty title in 2014.

The executive broke the news, which is likely to come at no surprise to anyone, during the company’s Q3 2013 earnings call overnight.

Said Kotick: "Despite short-term uncertainties, as we look forward to 2014, we have a very strong product pipeline. We expect multiple new releases across our major franchises, including the first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls, along with the PS4 version of Diablo III and significant and exciting new content for World of Warcraft.

"We also expect to launch new Call of Duty and Skylanders titles and a major new potential franchise with Bungie’s Destiny."

Details remain under wraps at present, though it has been rumored that a fourth installment in the Modern Warfare series is in development at Sledgehammer Games. Infinity Ward however, has insisted it isn’t on the cards.

The latest entry in the long-running military FPS series, Call of Duty: Ghosts, was released on November 5 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360. Read our review here.
