Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will feature a Zombies mode set in a separate universe to the main campaign.
The undead-focused spin-off will mark the first instance that Infinity Ward has developed a Zombies mode, with the popular mini-game originally the creation of Treyarch.
"Infinite Warfare will introduce an original cooperative Zombies mode that takes players on a wild ride through a new storyline with unique gameplay features and mechanics," said Activision. "Expect a lot of fun surprises when more details about the new zombies experience are announced later this year."
Previous Infinity Ward-developed titles had featured their own unique mini-games in the form of Extinction (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare) and co-op/wave-based survival missions (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3).
Zombies has proven undeniably the most popular spin-off mode in Call of Duty history, debuting in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. Treyarch expanded the mode with Call of Duty: Black Ops and its various sequels, drafting in celebrity guests such as Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michael Rooker.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is due out on November 4, 2016. Those of you who plonk down the cash for the game’s Legacy Edition and other such content-filled specials will receive a remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
