Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has peered in to his crystal ball once again, this time predicting that sales of the mammoth Call of Duty series will experience a slump as a result of competition from the likes of EA, DICE and Respawn Entertainment.
“I think that it is likely that future games will sell fewer units in the past,” said Pachter, adding, “primarily due to increased competition from Respawn, DICE and EA games that will likely be in the same or similar genres.”
Elsewhere, the analyst reckons that Joe Public won’t likely turn his back on the franchise, suggesting only hardcore followers will have any clue as to the recent firings of Infinity Ward’s Vince Zampella and Jason West — the average punter, however, won’t likely have a clue nor care about the situation.
Speaking of Call of Duty, it’s going to be a busy period for the franchise over the next couple of years, with no less than three fresh instalments in the series due to assault store shelves by April 2012.
