British actor Craig Fairbrass has sparked widespread speculation that Activision will be lifting the wraps off its latest Call of Duty title this month.
Fairbrass, who provided the voice for Gaz in the original Modern Warfare and also voiced fan-favourite Ghost in the 2009 follow-up, said he’s been in Los Angeles recently for a project that’s set to be unveiled in May.
Speaking with talkSPORT (via CVG), Fairbrass commented, “I did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as Gaz and then I did Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, which has become one of the most iconic figures in the history of computer games, which is great.”
"And I’ve just been out in LA doing something that’s going to be announced in May… I’ve just been out there doing some bits and pieces and one of it’s to do with… I can’t say too much."
This year’s Call of Duty has yet to be officially announced, though rumors have suggested the game is none other than a third entry in the Modern Warfare series.
If an announcement is indeed due this month, then it ties in nicely with Activision’s 2011 financial results, which will take place on Monday, May 9.
Elsewhere, Fairbrass also elaborated on his experience recording dialogue for the Modern Warfare titles, labelling the process “incredible.”
"You do like five, six, seven sessions and they record it in this great big studio in Los Angeles, which is absolutely mental," he said.
"I was out there from January to the end of February [and] Activision took me to their hub, I was a guest for the day, and they took me all around and they showed me the game – you know, these games are like $200 million to produce.”
"It’s incredible. This place was like the size of 10 factories, there was all these people working.”
Stay tuned.
