Call of Duty WW2 multiplayer headquarters to support a massive 48 players?

The Call of Duty WW2 multiplayer Headquarters social space will reportedly support up to 48 players, according to a listing for the game’s multiplayer support on the Xbox Store.

Much like Destiny’s Tower, the Headquarters acts as a social hub where players can take it easy in between missions, show off their gear, and generally hang out when not involved in pushing the Nazis out of occupied Europe. Last night’s Call of Duty WW2 reveal briefly showcased an area where troops were milling about a base area next to a beach setting, offering our first glimpse at the Headquarters environment.

According to the Xbox Store (via Reddit), the Sledgehammer Games-developed first-person shooter will support 2-48 players, and while it doesn’t explicitly state this applies to the Headquarters social hub, it’s very likely this is the case. Either that, or the number of players for one of the game’s multiplayer modes has been bumped up considerably, although it’s worth noting that the Windows Store only mentions a maximum of 18 players.

Call of Duty WW2 is scheduled for release worldwide on November 3 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. The game takes place during the latter stages of World War II, as Allied forces slowly but steadily push back the Nazis following the Normandy landings. In addition to featuring a story-based campaign, the upcoming shooter will also include a Zombies co-op mode and full multiplayer component.

Those of you who are eager to get their hands on Call of Duty WW2 should preorder the game as soon as possible; doing so will give you access to the planned beta test on PS4 later this year. There’s also a Pro Edition of the World War II-based shooter due out alongside the standard version this fall.
