Mare, which originally launched on VR headsets not called PlayStation back in 2021 has finally made its way to PS VR2, and it’s available right now.
The fact that Mare was coming to PlayStation VR2 is something that developer Lonekite Games first revealed back in July, though only a release window was provided at the time.
Which makes today, it’s official launch day, sort of a shadow drop, as it was the fifth game to close out a run of PS VR2 games each getting new trailers or release dates on Monday.
Mare runs at a cool 90 FPS on PS VR2, confirms developer Lonekite Games in a PlayStation Blog post, and it’ll be playable in two different modes.
An “Enhanced” mode, which lets players utilize the PS VR2’s Sense controllers, or a “Classic” mode, which keeps everything controlled by eye-tracking, just as it was in the original.
It’s been said before on PSU, but it’s worth noting that this Fall is turning out to be a great time to be a PS VR2 player. Even though the first-party support is still lacking, if you’ve taken the plunge on a headset (or might this Black Friday) then it’s more than worth dusting it off and seeing what might catch your eye.
Metro: Awakening VR for one is not only an excellent game, it was also just nominated for Best VR Game of 2024 at The Game Awards. There’s also Max Mustard out now, and still to come Alien: Rogue Incursion, and now Mare on top of all that.
