Capcom defends Sony-exclusive SF x Tekken characters

Capcom’s stepped up to the plate to defend its inclusion of Sony platform-exclusive characters in Street Fighter x Tekken, following backlash from Xbox 360 owners.

Just in case you’re out of the loop, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the crossover brawler include three exclusive combatants, namely inFamous hero Cole MacGrath and fictional Sony duo Toro and Kuro.

However, Capcom has yet to confirm any 360-only characters for the fighter, sparking one fan, via a thread on Capcom Unity titled ‘Xbox fans who want Street Fighter x Tekken,’ to ask, "Are fans that play Xbox going to get ignored in Street Fighter X Tekken like NetherRealm Studios did with Mortal Kombat?”

In response, Capcom’s Christian Svensson defended the move, noting the company has previously offered numerous 360-exclusive content with the likes of Dead Rising 1 & 2, as well as Lost Planet.

"Guys, we’ve done lots of exclusive content on Xbox 360 platforms (DR1, DR2, Lost Planet, etc.)," he said. "We spread the love around from time to time. Nothing more I can say on the topic for the near term."

Street Fighter x Tekken is due out on PS3, PS Vita and Xbox 360 next year.
