Capcom‘s decision to charge fans $40 to watch online streams of forthcoming tournament finals has resulted in the company ‘reviewing pricing” following significant backlash.
The Resident Evil publisher announced during the Tokyo Game Show back in September that it would be streaming the Capcom Cup 12 and SFL World Championship live using pay-per-view. As such, those interested would have to fork out 4,000 yen (about $27) to watch the Capcom Cup 12 Finals on March 14, 2026, and pay the same price to view the SFL World Championship the following day. Alternatively, Capcom is offering a $40 bundle allowing you to watch both.
Fans were unsurprisingly not happy with this, and following major online backlash, Capcom has now revealed it is reviewing its pricing for the pay-per-view. Here’s the statement the company wrote on X:

Capcom has a major year ahead of it with the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil (or Biohazard as it’s known as in Japan), and is currently working on the next mainline instalment with Resident Evil Requiem. The publisher announced over the weekend that preorders for the game are opening up on October 29.
