Remember the Onimusha series? You should – the inaugural game, Onimusha: Warlords, was one of the PlayStation 2’s early classics, combining the pre-rendered locales of Resident Evil with the hacking and slashing of a samurai action flick.
But if you somehow missed Warlords and its first two sequels – Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege – in your headlong passage through life, don’t despair. Capcom has thrown together a three-for-one "Essentials" bundle, available from the Capcom store or "your favorite retailer" for the bargain price of USD 29.99.
All three games deal with the efforts of various uber-skilled warriors to put down the evil Lord Nobunaga and his hordes of demons. Production values are sky-high (check out those gnarly character models and weapon designs) and the combat is both measured and satisfyingly brutal, though not as cinematic as that of stablemate Devil May Cry.
We’d kill for a current generation iteration – get your developing caps on, Capcom.
