CD Projket RED has a lot in the works, even beyond the games it has in development. During the company’s most recent quarterly earnings call, we got an update on one of the studio’s extra-curricular projects, that is, non-gaming projects.
A live-action Cyberpunk project is something we first heard about a little more than a year ago, with the news at the time just being that a live-action project was in the works.
Today, the update on that project was that it’s still around, but CD Projekt RED is still within the conceptualizing phase, and isn’t yet ready to move into the next phase of pre-production to production.
Michał Nowakowski, joint-chief executive officer at CD Projekt RED gave the update, saying “I mean, the conceptual stage has various stages of advancement, so we’re for sure further than we were a year ago, but we’re also not yet at the stage where we would be shopping around the concept to potential streamers or studios.”
“I’d say it’s probably a similar window between here and now as was between when we announced it about a year ago and today, so within that window I would expect we’re going to get to shopping [it] around,” Nowakowski added.
When the live-action project was first announced, it was also announced that it would be done in collaboration with Anonymous Content.
If Nowakowski is correct about the project’s timeline, then hopefully in about a year and a half, we’ll have a title and a release plan in place for whatever this project will be.
