Cell Discussion in June

Sony, Toshiba and IBM plan to speak to the public about their upcoming Cell processor. The Cell chip, a new semiconductor technology planned for use in Sony’s PS3, will be the subject of a presentation at a conference held by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEE) this June. IBM’s Peter Hofstee who is one of the key IBM staff members on the Cell project, will deliver a presentation on the Cell in a session with Sony’s Tech Guru Yoshiaki Hagiwara along with IBM Japan’s Michinori Nishihara. This conference should hopefully clear up the grey areas surrounding the Cell’s role with the PS3 and shed some light on the chips finer details.
