If you grew up in the early 90s in the UK, then you’ll probably remember GamesMaster. Brilliant, wasn’t it? Well, Channel 4 is looking to reboot the show, according to fresh reports online.
The broadcaster is looking to resurrect the classic show as a “social first” programme later this year, with content appearing on its E4 channel, YouTube and social media platforms.
GamesMaster graced our television sets between 1992 – 1998, and was hosted by Dominik Diamond and featured the late Sir Patrick Moore as the show’s eponymous gaming overlord. The show featured reviews, challenges, and the GamesMaster also answered viewer questions if they were stuck on a title before dishing out tips.
Speaking in a pitch to advertisers, Channel 4 commented:
They’ll undergo challenges, races and fights in virtual battle across all genres of gaming under the watchful eye of the all-knowing GamesMaster. Each week at least one celeb will be eliminated…Over the three episodes, five will become one and the winner will be crowned.
They’ll play each other at everything from iconic classics to brand new releases. We’ll also be serving tonnes of extra gaming-themed content to our audiences to keep them coming back for more.
