Scottish synth-pop group Chvrches has revealed that they would ‘be there in a second’ to contribute to Death Stranding 2 if creator Hideo Kojima called them.
Martin Doherty, the group’s synth player, was asked by NME if they were in the process of writing a track for Kojima-san’s new title, which was announced during The Game Awards 2022 in December.
I mean, we’re available. There’s nothing formal yet. We’ve talked [and] we’ve hinted heavily at each other that we would both like to collaborate again.
There’s sort of a dance going on right now. I don’t want to be rejected by all out saying, ‘Can we be on the game please?’ and [Kojima] says no. But I don’t know. We’re continuing to build a really special relationship with Hideo. And I think we get him and I think he gets us. If the call comes in to do more then of course, we’ll be there in a second.
In case you weren’t aware, Chvrches worked on the title track for 2019’s Death Stranding and also provided music for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. Kojima himself is a big fan of the group, and has spent time with Chvrches when they visited Japan.
Death Stranding 2 is currently in development for the PS5.
