Music is a powerful medium. Capable of stirring up long-forgotten memories and evoking powerful emotion in the listener, music can reduce even the burliest of blokes into blubbering, crumpled heaps. And who says that us guys are afraid to show their sensitive side? Poppycock. Of course, video games are no exception to this rule, and as often is the case, a stellar soundtrack can greatly accentuate the on-screen antics, elevating even the most perfunctory scene to hard-hitting greatness.
In a continued celebration of some of gaming’s ear-pleasing aural accomplishments, PSU presents yet another instalment in our on-going Classic Tracks series. This time around, we’re taking to the zombie-infested streets of Raccoon City as we celebrate Resident Evil 2’s rock-tastic credits theme.

Players who finished Leon or Claire’s ‘B’ scenario expecting another piano outro were left pleasantly surprised when the credits began to roll during RE2’s climax. Yep, gone is the incongruously soft, ballad-esque number of the ‘A’ mission, instead replaced by something far more fitting to Resident Evil 2’s epic nature — a two-minute, head banging’ rock track. Going under the rather stuffy name of ‘Credit Line of Full Staff,’ the track remains one of the most upbeat, bombastic ending themes of the franchise to date, packing some meaty guitar work and a killer beat. Indeed, just as Leon or Claire’s ‘B’ scenario offered a more substantial ending for your troubles, this mighty beast of a track made you feel as though you really accomplished something.
