Cliff Bleszinski, game designer on Epic Games’ Gears of War series, has issued his thoughts on today’s announcement that Activision’s pulled the plug on the long-running Guitar Hero series.
Writing on his Twitter account, Bleszinski’s response to the demise of the venerable music sim franchise is typically unambiguous:
"You can have an IP that you lovingly care for and release every so often that can last forever, or one you ride hard into the ground,” he commented.
He ends with a reflective: ‘#ripGH’.
Activision announced overnight that it had also scrapped development of True Crime: Hong Kong, and confirmed no new DLC for Guitar Hero or DJ Hero would be produced.
