Codemasters at work on DiRT 3, Grid 2 and Flashpoint

Following the critical acclaim of both games in the DiRT series it was inevitable that Codemasters wouldn’t take its foot of the accelerator just yet; and lo and behold DiRT 3 was confirmed as in development earlier this year.

News this week confirms that work on the off-road racing game is in full prgoress, so we’d expect to hear firm details on the game very shortly – but what of the equally highly praised Grid franchise?

The good news is Grid is also set to return as Codemasters confirmed this week that its Southam branch is hard at work on the next installment of Flashpoint, DiRT and Grid.

Speaking to Develop, the SVP of production at Codemasters, Jamie Macdonald, commented:

“We’ve got a major launch with F1 coming up in September and developed at our Birmingham studio, and we hope to draw new IP from there. Our Guildford studio is working hard on Bodycount, and we will be looking to take that franchise further and further with the addition of more IP. "

"In Southam it’s full steam ahead with the next iteration in our Flashpoint series, as well as the next Dirt and Grid. It’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out."

We wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to see playable demos of all three games at Gamescom at the end of August.
