Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has officially confirmed that its upcoming handheld system, the PlayStation Vita, will not support the play of PSone classics at launch.
The information was revealed as part of a Q&A document posted on the Japanese version of the handheld’s website, which says (translated):
Q: Can I play PlayStation game title in the Archives of PS Vita? A: At the time of release will not support PS Vita. Plans for future measures will be announced shortly.
