Contra: Operation Galuga will bring the Contra franchise into the modern era as developer Wayforward has teamed up with Konami to release a new, reimagined Contra game with new weapons, bosses, enemies and more.
There’s no exact release date for players to look forward to, rather just a release window of it arriving on PS5 and PS4 sometime early 2024.
Instead of a remake or remaster of old Contra titles, this is a brand new entry in the series, that’ll keep the core Contra gameplay while adding some quality-of-life improvements and a few things yet to appear in a Contra game.
Operation Galuga was announced on Thursday during Nintendo’s Direct event, with a new trailer you can see below.
Players will be able to jump into Operation Galuga on their own, or with up to three other friends with a 4-player co-op available.
On top of new weapons, there will also be new abilities players can take advantage of, such as new ultimate attacks to deal huge damage.
