Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos HD Is In Early Development, Says Argonaut Founder

Jez San, the founder of Argonaut Software, has revealed that Croc: Legend of the Gobbos HD is in the early stages of development.

San was responding to an article on Croc posted at TimeExtension64, although didn’t go into any further details – after all, he said the project is only in early development.

I have news but it’s a little premature to announce it. a ‘Croc HD’ has started early development.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was released for the PSOne, PC and Sega Saturn back in 1997, and is something of an unsung hero in the platforming genre. After all, Croc had to contend with juggernauts such as Mario and Crash Bandicoot at the time, so he never really got time to shine. The game was developed by Argonaut Software and published by Fox Interactive, and received a sequel in 1999.

I vividly remember getting Croc for Christmas back in 1997, and had a ton of fun smashing crates and whacking enemies with Croc’s tail. It was actually pretty tough in places too; my mate borrowed the game off me and finished it before I could. Perhaps it’s time to revisit it? I’d definitely be up for a HD version of the game, and I’m sure I’m not alone in that sentiment.
