Crytek, the company behind the visually stunning and critically acclaimed PC title Crysis, has finally stepped up to the plate and declared that its latest CryENGINE3 is now fully prepped and ready for console development.
The developer has said that the new engine will be easily accessible to create games in a variety of genres, from action games to MMOs. However, Crytek is dubbing this engine as the only one of its kind capable of preparing consoles for the next generation of gaming.
According to Crytek’s Director of Business Development, Carl Jones, "CryENGINE 3 will set the benchmark for complete game engine solutions in performance, and services to game engine licensees and their players," he proclaims. "We’ve been preparing a long time for CryENGINE on consoles and we’re confident that Crytek will again amaze developers at GDC."
Crytek will be available to the press later this month for the Game Developers Conference. We’re hoping they’ll have a tech demo on display that will rival the prowess of Crysis on the PC but for our console domain.
