CS: Global Offensive to unite 1.6 and Source fans, says Valve

Valve writer, Chet Falizek, has said that Valve wants to bring together existing fans of Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source for the developer’s newest outing in the franchise, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

“A lot of Counter-strike: Global Offensive is taking Counter-strike: Source and Counter-strike 1.6 and melding it into a product that every side likes and also expanding the base by putting it out on the consoles,” said Faliszek, when speaking with Kotaku.

Valve hopes to achieve their goal by narrowing the CS: GO appeal to the game’s more competitive fanbase.

“Counter-Strike: GO has this kind of objective of homing in. We’re taking that competitive experience that’s very hard to organize in Counter-Strike: Source… We’ve taken that and let everyone experience the fun of a five-on-five where everyone is equally matched,” he said.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is slated for a 2012 digital release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
