Cyber Danganronpa VR launching in the West next week, free for PlayStation Plus members


Want to be more immersed in the sick and stylish world of Danganronpa? Spike Chunsoft has you covered, as the Japanese developer announced at the Game Developer’s Conference 2017 that Cyber Danganronpa VR: Class Trial will be released in North America and Europe next week.

Released as a PlayStation VR launch title in Japan, Cyber Danganronpa VR places you into a class trial set in the first game, where you use your reasoning to fire the right truth bullets to convict the guilty.

Spike Chinsoft’s mainline Danganronpa games are best described as Battle Royale or Hunger Games story meets Phoenix Wright gameplay. A group of students are usually trapped in a school and are tempted to kill, as their captor offers freedom to those who murder and are found innocent by their classmates in a class trial.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair originally launch on the PlayStation Portable and were later ported to the PlayStation Vita, the versions release first in the West. Both games are now available for PC via Steam. A survival horror spin-off game named Ultra Despair Girls was made for the PS Vita as also.

A PlayStation 4 collection titled Danganronpa 1•2 Reload will be out later this month on March 14 in North America and March 27 in Europe. Ultra Despair Girls will release on PS4 on June 27 in North America and on June 23 in Europe, as well as on PC in the second quarter of 2017.

A third main entry, Danganronpa V3, for the PS4 and PS Vita launched in Japan on January 12 and is set for release in North America on September 26 and in Europe on September 29 (the PC port will launch simultaneously on these dates).
