The tech wizards at Digital Foundry have put Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty through its paces, revealing the expansion to CD Projekt RED’s sci-fi epic has a number of disadvantages on Xbox hardware and actually performs better on PS5 overall.
For starters, there’s major frame rate drops on Xbox Series X/S when driving fast through Night City to around 49 FPS, while the PS5 maintains a solid 60 FPS. Furthermore, loading time are noticeable longer on Xbox formats compared to the PS5 version to the point where the are almost twice as long as Sony’s console. Image quality also suffers in some circumstances, as evidence in the video snippet below .
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is now available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. In addition, CDPR released Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 last week, which brings a number of major improvements to the base experience, including a revamped police system and vehicular combat.
