Cyberpunk 2077 Will Balance Authenticity And Creativity With Its Cyberware Upgrades

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has spoken at length about the Cyberware upgrades used in the upcoming sci-fi epic, saying the team has looked at contemporary designs and wants to ensure the tech has “this layer of authenticity about it” and remains “credible.”

Speaking with the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine UK, the game’s concept art co-ordinator, Ben Andrews, revealed that the team’s designs try to be “functional and logical with the world,” but “they should also say something about the larger themes of the game.”

We’re looking at all the contemporary stuff for sure. We want things to be credible and we wanted to have this layer of authenticity about it. But at the same time, we’re still making a game, so we don’t want to be limited by these things. We’re not making simulations, we just take what we need in order to add this credibility and believability to the designs that we make.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox One. The game will receive a free upgrade for next-generation consoles at launch, with a separate release for those systems arriving in 2021.
