From Software has crowned a new company president in the form of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls mastermind, Hidetaka Miyazaki.
The news comes on the heels of From Software’s acquisition by Kadokawa Shoten, a Japanese publisher who has collaborated extensively with Grasshopper Manufacture’s Goichi Suda.
Having joined the developer in 2004, Miyazaki-san and his team achieved critical and gamer acclaim with the brutal action-RPG and its spiritual successor in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
However, the follow-up to Dark Souls was instead handled by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura, with Miyazaki-san instead taking on the role of supervisor.
Elsewhere, the producer behind Demon’s Souls, Masanori Takeuchi, has been promoted to Senior Managing Director.
