Namco Bandai has announced that brutal RPG Dark Souls has sold over one million copies across North America and Europe.
The publisher confirmed that the game, developed by From Software, moved approximately 1.19 million copies in the west. Japanese sales weren’t included, however.
As the spiritual successor to the highly acclaimed Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls arrived on shelves in October 2011 to critical acclaim, and was a hot contender for Game of the Year. Unlike its predecessor, the title released on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Elsewhere, Namco’s 2012 financial results confirmed that Ace Combat: Assault Horizon sold 1.07 million units in all three major territories. Soul Calibur 5 shifted 690,000 units in the U.S. and Europe, while Dragon Ball Ultimate Blast sold 700,000 copies.
Namco’s net income reached 19.3 million yen, resulting in a massive year-on-year increase of 1044.3 per cent. Revenue topped 454.2 billion yen.
