David Hayter denies Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain appearance

Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has again down played reports that he’s due to reprise his role as the gruff mercenary in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Writing on Twitter in response to a fan asking if gamers will be surprised to see him make a shock return at The Phantom Pain’s climax, Hayter had this to say:

Hayter previously took a cheeky swipe at Konami on Twitter regarding their comments on wanting Big Boss to be defined by more than just his voice. Turns out, Hayter can do mo-cap too

Still, there’s plenty of support out there for Hayter, including his old Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty co-star, Quinton Flynn, who recently lamented Hayter’s absence in Ground Zeroes.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is due out on September 1 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game will also reportedly include microtransactions in a first for the series.
