Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has again down played reports that he’s due to reprise his role as the gruff mercenary in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Writing on Twitter in response to a fan asking if gamers will be surprised to see him make a shock return at The Phantom Pain’s climax, Hayter had this to say:
No-one more than me. https://t.co/jMK7wMZSRP

Hayter previously took a cheeky swipe at Konami on Twitter regarding their comments on wanting Big Boss to be defined by more than just his voice. Turns out, Hayter can do mo-cap too.
Still, there’s plenty of support out there for Hayter, including his old Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty co-star, Quinton Flynn, who recently lamented Hayter’s absence in Ground Zeroes.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is due out on September 1 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game will also reportedly include microtransactions in a first for the series.
