DC Universe Online free-to-play brings in new and old players

John Smedly, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment, has revealed that DC Universe Online has seen a significant increase in new and existing players, since going into free-to-play mode on November 1.

“We are over 1000% of our pre-F2P concurrent numbers,” said Smedley via Twitter.

The increased number of new and existing players has caused quite a strain on server hardware, resulting in long login queues and other related headaches.

“We’re very aware of the long queues and other issues. We’re on it,” Smedley continued.

Smedley said that SOE is working on adding additional hardware to the games servers to alleviate the stress caused by the influx of players.

DC Universe Online available now on PlayStation 3 and PC.
