The upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom’s Dead Rising video game franchise has added Rob Riggle to the cast.
Riggle, who starred in the likes of Let’s Be Cops and 21 Jump Street, will assume the role of photojournalist, Frank West, who gamers will recall as the protagonist of the original Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
Also joining Riggle on the newly-named Dead Rising: Watchtower will be Harley Morenstein, Keegan Connor, and Aleks Paunovic. The film also stars Jesse Metcalf, Meghan Ory, Virginia Madsen, and Dennis Haysbert.
Unsurprisingly, Dead Rising: Watchtower will place the action in the midst of a zombie outbreak, which sees the government-deployed vaccine unable to contain the spread of the mysterious plague. The film will incorporate elements of politics, public paranoia, and media coverage.
Dead Rising: Watchtower will debut exclusively in the U.S. on Crackle, before seeing a release on DVD and TV among other formats.
