Following the announcement and debut trailer of Dante’s Inferno at Sunday’s Spike TV’s VGA show, many onlookers were quick to question whether the game would turn out to be nothing more than a Gears of War clone, or something a little more special.
Fortunately for gamers looking forward to more from this great piece of literature, the game is being placed in the capable hands of the folk behind Electronic Arts’ highly successful horror outing, Dead Space.
“The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience that, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” said Jonathan Knight, executive producer for Dante’s Inferno. “It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”
The trailer may have shown very little, but the potential that this story could bring to interactive entertainment is very promising. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the development of this one.
