Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is due out next month, but creator Hideo Kojima has revealed he already has a concept for Death Stranding 3 — he just won’t be making the game if it ever happens.
Speaking during a Q&A at a preview event for Death Stranding 2 in Japan recently, Kojima-san explained the concept of the Plate Gate, which allows Sam Porter-Bridges to travel to new environments in-game. With this in mind, Kojima said that it make the idea of sequels that much easier, but it seems he’s not planning to actually make the next Death Stranding himself.
If I use this Plate Gate concept, I could make endless sequels! I, of course, don’t have any plans to do that, but I already have a concept for another sequel. I am not going to make it myself, but if I passed it on to someone else, they could probably make it.

Kojima revealed in his latest radio show that the release date for Death Stranding 2 was impacted by GTA VI, as he originally wanted to launch the game in September. He also said that game publishers actively want to avoid clashing with big selling titles such as Rockstar’s crime franchise when considering dates for titles like Death Stranding 2.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025 for PS5.
