Sony America’s senior director of corporate communications and social media, Patrick Seybold, has revealed that December 2009 proved "the single highest selling month for PS3 hardware and software since its launch in the US.” Not too shabby, eh?
According to Seybold, PS3 hardware was up by a whopping 90 percent over the previous December, while software sales soared to 60% during the same period.
Furthermore, PlayStation Network also turned in a meaty performance, with the online service enjoying its "single highest revenue month, jumping 155% from December 2008 in North America." As it turns out, Final Fantasy VIII ended up the most popular downloadable title with punters, with PixelJunk Shooter coming in second.
December’s NPD will be released later today, so keep those eyes peeled for the final hardware numbers.
