Activision has announced that Destiny has smashed records for the most popular console beta for a new IP, after more than 4.6 million players across current and next-generation systems flocked to Bungie’s FPS in mid-July.
The science-fiction shooter, which is the brainchild of Halo creator, Bungie, also claimed the record for the largest beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One — not too shabby indeed.
Said Pete Parsons, Bungie’s Chief Operating Officer: "We were totally blown away by the number of people who played the beta. We surpassed even our own goals and the feedback was invaluable.
“We cannot thank the community enough, the response was humbling and in the weeks ahead we’ll be working hard to ensure that Destiny lives up to the expectations at launch."
