Destiny guide: how to reach Light Level 365 fast

The new Destiny: Rise of Iron raid launches today, and if you want a chance at participating in the action-packed event, you’re going to need to get your Guardian up to the required minimum Light Level of 360. Naturally, you could achieve this simply by playing the game regularly and methodically grinding your way through the ranks, but there’s actually an easier way to reaching 360 Light than initially believed.

Say hello to the Omnigul farm, aka The Will of Crota Strike from Destiny’s first DLC pack, The Dark Below.

Destiny – the quickest way to reach Light Level 360+

Essentially, this involves participating in the Strike as normal and taking down the main boss, the titular Omnigul, in a short amount of time. The Hive Wizard will show up before the final boss area, in the corridor just after you open the door to the Skywatch; it’s just before the large wave of attacking Hive enemies. The idea is to dispatch Omnigul quickly, grab her loot, then wipe and restart this section of the mission once again, allowing you to repeat the process.

The key aspect here is that Omnigul counts as a boss even before your final encounter, meaning she’ll drop blue engrams of up to 365 Light—you can even nab these rare drops in the standard 320 difficulty.

With that in mind, here’s a few key tips to remember while you embark your journey to Destiny Light Level 360.

  • Remember to equip new armor and weapons as you find them, as this will boost your Light Level incrementally, giving you a better chance at receiving high-end loot.
  • Keep an eye on your inventory so you can carry as many engrams as possible; otherwise, you’ll have to make a trip back to the Tower to visit the Cryptarch and Postmaster.
  • In order to take Omnigul down before she retreats to the final boss area, you will need to equip some powerful weaponry. The Gjallarhorn, Sleeper Simulant come highly recommended in your fire team, as does a fully levelled exotic sword such as the Razelighter. Stock up on Heavy Ammo packs too, as you’re going to need them.
  • While it is possible to farm this mission if you’re going in solo with matchmaking in effect, it’s easier to get together a fire team of your own so you are all on the same page. That way, you can coordinate your attacks on Omnigul more efficiently and decide the best strategy to take her down. Otherwise, you may be stuck with a team who isn’t interesting in a spot of farming.
